 In 2018 I was commissioned to create a piece for the Ethereal Summit exhibition event at the Knockdown Center, Brooklyn.

The Artwork

The piece is a collaboration and it exists in a digital and physical form. The physical manifestation is a hardware wallet, designed by Richard Moore, which carries the private key that unlocks the digital artwork in the Ethereum blockchain. The digital piece is a representation within CryptoKitties’ world with some of my early feelings around art and blockchain and what this relationship could potentially become.

The Auction

The piece was auctioned during a live auction held by Christie's at the end of the Ethereal Summit event. It was sold for:

$ 140K USD / 203 ETH / 16.42 BTC → (*2018)

Which proceeded to fund art projects at the intersection of art and technology.

That night marked another important milestone. An historical moment in the realm of digital arts and NFTs and a glimpse of the impact it would create on our relationship with digital assets.
